Our Mission
“We are a neighbourhood church that exists to glorify God by making missional disciples for the good of the city.”
Our primary purpose is to glorify God so that the city see[object Object]s him through the way we live joy-filled obedient lives to God according to his word the Bible and empowered by his presence through his Holy Spirit. Glorifying God in this way includes being a people zealous for good works (Matthew 5:14 – 16), teaching and proclaiming the good news about Jesus Christ from God’s word faithfully (1 Tim 4), and growing by the power of the Holy Spirit in Christ likeness as a new creation people (Col 3; Eph 4; 2 Cor 5:17).
This work of glorifying God is a work that is hopeful and missional. By that we mean that we are confident and hopeful about Jesus’s promises to build his church (Matthew 16:18 – 19), to pour out his Holy Spirit on his people, so that through his church the kingdom of God will grow and advance and bring life and blessing outward into this world (“…you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8). We exist to make missional disciples in that we exist for the good of the city according to the plans and purposes of God and are full of hope for what God is doing in Vancouver, and what he will continue doing in Vancouver to bring life that is truly life and blessing. We believe that all faithful disciples of Jesus are those who seek first Jesus’s kingdom and his righteousness by loving their neighbours in word and deed.
Missional disciples seek Jesus’s kingdom in a particular place for particular people. We believe that living fully for Jesus as his missional disciples and for his glory is good for our neighbours. We aim to live for the glory of God and the good of others—namely the good of the others he has placed around us in this city.
