Youth

Welcome to our Youth Ministry

A welcoming community where students grow in faith, build meaningful friendships, and discover how to follow Jesus in everyday life.

Creating opportunities for youth from Gr. 6-12 to encounter Jesus.

Creating opportunities for youth from Gr. 6-12 to encounter Jesus.

Our intention is to cultivate a community where youth meet Jesus. We prayerfully seek to do this by sharing the gospel, preaching God’s Word, teaching sound doctrine, and through cross-generational discipleship.

A community of youth who live for Jesus not just once a week, but every day of their lives.

A community of youth who live for Jesus not just once a week, but every day of their lives.

Our prayer is that the youth of Christ City Church would come to know Jesus, be ignited in their faith, and seek to live for Him. That they would not be conformed to the ways of this world but transformed by the grace of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ and by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Our Rhythms

Christ City Youth is a ministry of regular rhythms punctuated by invitational events.

Each Monday night we gather, play games, hear from God’s Word, and have a time of discussion and prayer in small groups. We seek to equip the firm in faith, challenge the idle in faith, and invite the new to faith. All youth from Gr. 6-12 are welcome to join us from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at 5887 Prince Edward Street in Vancouver.

Each Sunday during the third gathering we invite youth from grades 6 and 7 to join us for a time of doctrinal teaching. Youth Foundations acts as a transitional program to help youth adjust after graduating from Kids Ministry. Teaching through essential Christian doctrines using rich theological language prepares youth for Monday Night Youth and, down the line, for Sunday sermons.

On Thursdays after school we host our Sr. Youth Bible Study. This is for youth from grades 9-12 who want to go deeper into God’s Word and develop a better understanding of what it means to live in Christian community. Creating intentional time together as a group of senior youth provides the opportunity to dig into relevant applications and have meaningful discussions.

In partnership with Youth Leaders and parents, our Director of Youth will work to arrange times of meaningful discipleship based on the needs of youth.

We have special events that act as an opportunity for youth to invite their non-Christian friends. These events are intentionally less formalized in their sharing of the gospel but are nonetheless incarnational moments.

Once a year in the fall we partner with like-minded local churches in a moment of shared community under a common goal: knowing Jesus. Given the invitational nature and fun structure of this retreat, we encourage youth to invite their non-Christian friends.

In December, before youth pauses for Christmas break, we host our annual Christmas Banquet. Youth are encouraged to invite their non-Christian friends to this night in which we share a meal, hear a brief advent message, play games, and celebrate the season together.

Each summer, we host our Youth Day Camp. Youth going into grades 6-9 are invited to participate in our week-long day camp. Each day begins with a time of Bible teaching, followed by a time of small group discussion and prayer. Afterwards, each day features an activity or outing.

This is an excellent opportunity for youth to invite their non-Christian friends, as the teaching is expressly invitational, and the bulk of each day is spent out on activity. It’s a low pressure, fun and engaging way to introduce friends to Jesus.
